Andrea Jung Discusses Women’s Economic Opportunity at HOPE Global Forum Annual Meeting
Andrea Jung, President and CEO of Grameen America, joined a panel discussion at the 2017 HOPE Global Forums Annual Meeting focused on redefining women’s economic empowerment. She joined Lisa Borders, President of the WNBA, SunTrust Bank’s Susan Johnson and Madonna Badger, CEO & Founder of Badger & Winters. Jung spoke about the importance of advocating for better access to loan capital to underserved women. With half of all female-headed households currently unbanked or underbanked, Jung spoke about the need for expanded access to loan capital and basic financial services for women.
“In order to break the cycle, there has to be a different way. There’s proof positive that when women start businesses – women-owned businesses – they pay equally, they give better health benefits. We have to make a huge dent in making sure there’s not financial exclusion, but instead financial inclusion,” Jung said.
