Meet Tatiane
Specializing in eyelash services for years, Tatiane opened her own lash studio in Newark, NJ with support from Grameen America.
Tatiane began her career as an elementary school teacher. She started taking classes about aesthetics and beauty, working for three years to master her skill. When Tatiane and her husband moved from Brazil to New Jersey, Tatiane began working in someone else’s lash studio. As she grew her client base, Tatiane felt ready to open her own studio.
“Grameen America helped me open my studio and grow my business. I’ve used the microloans to invest in this larger space and completely remodel it.”
With support from a first-time loan of $1,000 from Grameen America, Tatiane opened her very own studio four years ago. She specializes in eyelash services, but also offers eyebrow lamination. Tatiane offers training to people who are interested in learning about aesthetics services.
“I try to keep up with the latest technology. Most recently, I purchased a new LED light that helps lashes stick instead of using glue.”
Tatiane currently rents the additional space to two people, one who offers massages and one who offers nail services and hopes to hire another employee to help her offer more lash services.
