Meet Elizabeth

Entrepreneurship runs in Elizabeth’s family. Following her mother’s example as a businesswoman, Elizabeth runs her own multi-service business offering tax, accounting, and legal resources in Newark, NJ.

“Business is in my blood. My parents were entrepreneurs so I’ve wanted to own my own business since I was a child. I worked with my mother growing up and learned a lot from her. She was a powerful businesswoman and I’ve always wanted to follow her example.”

Elizabeth runs her business with her husband, who is a lawyer. They help provide what the community needs whether it’s tax information, business licensing procedures, or immigration documents with the help of a secretary. Elizabeth hires additional employees during tax season when there is a spike in customers.

“I’ve always been a woman who is not afraid of taking risks and learning from my experiences to grow.”

Elizabeth joined Grameen America in 2019 and has used loan capital to purchase tax materials and new computers for her business.

“Grameen America makes it easier to access loans based on discipline, responsibility, and punctuality. Now that I’m on my ninth loan cycle, my credit score has improved. I like having a group of other entrepreneurs to support me and I look forward to our weekly Center meetings every Monday.”

Elizabeth has passed down her entrepreneurial spirit to her daughter, who is also in the Grameen America program and sells clothing.

“My life mission is to help motivate young entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas and keep going.”

In the future, Elizabeth would love to open an ice cream parlor with her children as a family business. She hopes it will be a gathering place for her grandchildren.
