Meet Dulce
Dulce is an esthetician who has lived in Phoenix, AZ her entire life. Growing up, Dulce faced the hardships of living on minimum wage, which fueled her ambition to become an entrepreneur and, in 2022, open her own spa business.
“Through entrepreneurship, I saw an opportunity to grow emotionally and professionally.”
Prior to starting her own business, Dulce worked in the restaurant industry and provided cleaning services. It wasn’t until Dulce took a course on massage therapy that she found her calling, which introduced her to a world of beauty.
“The world is full of stress and anxiety, but I want my business to help people in my community feel their best, most confident selves.”
In 2022, Dulce started her spa business from her home. After growing a client base and developing a marketing strategy to advertise her business, Dulce opened a physical location, where she offers massages, facials, and holistic relaxation services.
“I was always part of business owners associations, but there was still a lack of information about how to improve and expand my business. With my first loan with Grameen America, I was able to pay for more courses, licenses, and products.”
A friend and fellow business owner from the community told Dulce about Grameen America’s program. Initially interested in the opportunity to access larger loan sizes, Dulce has also seen her credit score improve. Grameen America loans have helped Dulce invest in massage machines and facial products and save for her dream house. She’s also received a few clients from recommendations by the women entrepreneurs in her weekly Center meetings.
“The extra capital has given me a cushion I didn’t have before. There are periods when business is slow and now, I’m able to adjust to the natural ebbs and flows.”
Dulce’s favorite part of owning her business is introducing people to beauty and wellness services for the first time. In addition, Dulce is always focused on new offerings to expand her services and is currently learning about radio stimulation facials.
